About GlenCalc
GlenCalc is a set of calculators for practical jobs: how much concrete, gravel, pavers, decking, paint, tile or roofing to buy for a home project; soil, sod and seed for the garden; and the math behind knitting, quilting, aquariums and 3D printing. It is made by Glenbeam.
How the calculators are built
- Each calculator uses plain geometry and published figures, such as the yield printed on a bag of concrete, the riser limits in the building code or the ENERGY STAR sizing chart. The figures and their sources are listed on each page, with the date they were checked.
- Every answer shows the steps that produced it, so you can follow and check the math.
- The worked examples and answers on each page are covered by automated tests that run before the site is published.
- Where a figure varies (stone density, paint coverage), the calculator shows a typical value and lets you type your own.
Limits
The answers are estimates for buying materials. They are not engineering, structural or code advice. Check quantities with your supplier and follow your local building code and the manufacturer’s instructions.
