URL encoder and decoder

Characters like spaces, ampersands and non-English letters must be percent-encoded in URLs.

Your answer

Encodedcaf%C3%A9%20%26%20cr%C3%A8me%20%3D%20100%25

Worked out in your browser. Nothing you type is sent to a server.

How we worked it out

Updated as you change the numbers.

  1. Each unsafe character is turned into its UTF-8 bytes, each written as % and two hex digits (a space is %20).

Method and assumptions

Encoding a value escapes everything except letters, digits and - _ . ! ~ * ' ( ). Encoding a whole URL leaves the characters that give a URL its structure (: / ? # & =) alone. When decoding a value, + is treated as a space, as in form submissions.

Questions
